Dad's Club Scholarship
The MTA Dad’s Club and MTA Guild are committed to providing a chance for all MTA students, regardless of their financial status, to fully participate in the MTA experience. Thus, the Dad’s Club, in conjunction with the Guild, established a scholarship fund to CONFIDENTIALLY pay for school sponsored programs and services for eligible families.
A certain amount of money will be allotted in the Guild annual budget for these scholarships. Once the money for a particular academic year is exhausted, there will be no more scholarships for that year. However, applications will be accepted at the end of one academic year to be considered for activities in the next academic year.
The application can be accessed below. Applicants must submit a PDF copy of the application to: MTAScholarships@gmail.com, which will then be disseminated to the Scholarship Committee. Applications for more than one child must be submitted on separate application forms. The only criteria that will be used in evaluating applications will be: (1) demonstrated need; (2) conformance with the requirement that the request be for an MTA program; and (3) availability of funds in the Scholarship program. Parents are not eligible to receive funds for chaperoning field trips.
Families will be eligible for scholarships if:
(1) the family is eligible for the federal school breakfast or lunch program;
(2) the gross family annual income is lower than 150% of the federal poverty line (which is an annual total income of $35,775.00 for a family of four); or
(3) the family has had a temporary loss of employment or income that makes it impossible to pay the requested item for a student.
Any funds awarded will be paid directly to the program or service sought for the student’s benefit via the Guild. Items currently eligible for scholarships are listed as follows:
Clothing Exchange Credit,
Athletic Fees,
School Sponsored Clubs,
Necessary Equipment for Athletic Team or Club (i.e., shoes, shin guards, instrument, etc.),
Student Field Trip Fees,
School Supplies and miscellaneous items that may be deemed appropriate by the Scholarship Committee.
The Dad’s Club and Guild are also very concerned with, and committed to, ensuring the confidentiality of anyone submitting a scholarship application within the MTA community. To that end, we have established a Committee to review applications and make scholarship awards: the Committee consists of representatives of the Dad’s Club and of the Guild, all of whom have substantial experience in maintaining confidentiality with regard to sensitive information. We believe this is crucial for maintaining the confidentiality of each child and each family.
Applications will be accepted and evaluated on a rolling basis, and we anticipate being able to process them reasonably quickly after they are submitted. When scholarships are awarded, the family submitting the application will be notified via email. All questions related to the program should be directed to the Scholarship Committee via the email address for the program, and will be treated as confidential.
