Committees


  • ACADEMY PUBLISHING: Establish and run a publishing lab for our classrooms.  Volunteers are needed to work one-on-one with young authors by interviewing students, proofreading stories and binding books.  Typists are also needed.  (Timing:  school year). Chair: Heidi Holmes heidi1099@gmail.com.

  • ART MASTERPIECE: Present fine art presentations to classrooms.  Introduce artists and their works to the children and guide them in art-related activities.  Art Masterpiece should include the note card fundraiser in the fall, coordination of the art guides, and PAM and/or District training.   • ART WALK / OPEN HOUSE: Work with art program to obtain and frame student artwork to be sold.  Also, plan refreshments and organize volunteers to assist the evening of the Open House.  (Timing:  January – April). Chair:  Amy Adkins amyadkins@mac.com. Co-chair:  Dayna Hall nhall17@cox.net.

  • AUCTION / FALL SOCIAL: Coordinate and organize annual fundraising auction and Fall Social.  (Timing:  August – November). Chair (party):  Susan Harris Smh1621@cox.net. Chair (auction):  Carolyn Albin carolynalbin@msn.com.

  • BACK-TO-SCHOOL PACKS / TEACHERS SUPPLY CLOSET: Organize the ordering and distribution of Back-to-School supply packs for the upcoming school year.  Maintain and stock supplies in the Teacher Supply Closet.  (Timing School Packs:  May and August / Supply Closet:  school year).   • BOOK FAIR: Organize a Book Fair that encourages and promotes reading, as well as raises funds for the Guild.  Assist children with book selections, fill orders and provide cashier assistance.  (Timing:  November).   • COMMENCEMENT: Organize and support activities and events to celebrate 8th grade commencement in May.  (Timing:  January – May). Chair:  Carolyn Albin carolynalbin@msn.com. Co-chairs:  Kelly Ingram aingram03@cox.net & Carol Rose 7roses1@cox.net.

  • COPY HELPERS: Provide a weekly schedule of parents to make copies for the faculty.  Assist office / administrative staff with various clerical duties as necessary.  (Timing:  school year). Chair: Jamee Klein jamee_shaun@cox.net.

  • DADS’ CLUB: View our Committee Page. Plan social events for dads’ gatherings, as well as parent/child events.  Assist in set-up and clean-up at events.  Organize and coordinate fundraisers for MTA (Doughnuts with Dad, raffles, etc.).  (Timing:  school year). President:  Andy McDonald amcdonal61@cox.net.

  • FAMILY EVENTS: Plan and coordinate social events (bingo, movie night, etc.) that bring the MTA community together.  Coordinate and promote fundraisers with area restaurants (Papa John’s night, etc.) (Timing:  school year).   • FAMILY FUN DAY: Plan, develop, organize and run annual Family Fund Day event.  (Timing:  October – March). Chair:  Mara Hayes Maramau5@hotmail.com. Co-chair:  Jennifer Ryan-Touhill dtouhillaz@hotmail.com.

  • FIELD DAY:  Organize and coordinate annual student Field Day.  Assist parent volunteers to run and supervise various events and help students rotate through stations.  (Timing:  January – March). Chair:  Carolyn Albin carolynalbin@msn.com. Co-chair:  Carol Rose  7roses1@cox.net. .

  • CAMPUS BEAUTIFICATION: Organize projects to help beautify our campus (planting flowers, creating garden art, etc.).  Coordinate with teachers to involve students in all grade levels to participate in various projects.  (Timing:  school year).   • HISTORIAN: Chronicle and archive important school events.  Duties may include scrap booking, creating time capsules, as well as preserving and showcasing photographs, trophies, awards and memorabilia.  (Timing:  school year). Chair:  Karen Maurer Karen.maurer@westcor.com.

  • HOSPITALITY: Purchase, prepare, set-up and clean-up food and beverages at select events (teacher conferences, community builders, etc.).  Maintain supplies needed for teacher breakfasts (cutlery, plates, and napkins).  (Timing:  school year).   • LOGO ITEM SALES: Assist with ordering, selling and distributing purchased logo items (t-shirts, car decals, owl patches, etc.)  Sell logo items throughout the school year, and at Back-to-School night and select Guild meetings/ events.  Maintain an inventory.  (Timing:  July – May).   • LUNCH & PLAYGROUND SUPPORT: Develop, coordinate and maintain a playground duty schedule.  Committee members participate in an annual training session to review rules and procedures.  Duty members provide lunch / playground supervision.  Volunteers are responsible for finding a substitute (sub list provided) if unable to fulfill commitment.  (Timing:  school year).   • MAD MONEY: View our Committee Page. Inform and encourage parents to participate in various programs that can earn money for our school (i.e. Box Tops, Escrip, etc.).  Organize class incentives to promote participation.  (Timing:  school year).   • MEMBERSHIP / DIRECTORY: Run an annual membership drive to recruit families and teachers to join the Guild.  Gather and compile student and school information, sell advertising, print, label and distribute the MTA School Directory in the fall.  (Timing:  July – September).   • PROCUREMENT: Solicit donations (within the MTA and general community) to be used by the Guild to support fundraising events for school programs.  Donations may be used as prizes or raffle items.  (Timing:  school year). Chair: None listed.

  • READY, SET, READ: Organize and run an incentive-based reading program for students who reach Accelerated Reader (AR) quarterly goals.  Committee members work with teachers to identify and provide prizes and recognition for these students.  (Timing:  school year). Chair:  Co-Presidents.

  • SAFE START: Assist students with familiarizing themselves with the campus during the beginning of the school year.  (Timing:  first two weeks of school). Chair:  Ashley Simpson Ash2@cox.net.

  • TEACHER APPRECIATION: View our Events page. Coordinate efforts to show appreciation to teachers and staff throughout the year.  In May, during National Teacher Appreciation Week, organize school-wide events (provide tokens of appreciation, organize faculty luncheon, etc.).  (Timing:  school year).   • UNIFORM EXCHANGE: Coordinate uniform exchange program.  Collect, tag, arrange and organize items for exchange at school events throughout the year.  Maintain online inventory for parent review.  (Timing:  school year). Chair:  Pepper Kincaid pepsemail@gmail.com.

  • UPPER GRADE STORE: Collect Donations from vendors / parents and run a “store” where students can redeem “school dollars” earned from good behavior, etc.  (Timing:  donations – school year; store:  quarterly). Chair:  Kayla Kerr Azsupergirl2010@yahoo.com.

  • VARIETY / TALENT SHOW:  Plan annual student talent show.  Work closely with talent coordinator and faculty representative to organize the event.  Provide set-up / tear-down, as well as create show program and menu for the evening.  (Timing:  December – February).   • VISION/HEARING SCREENING: Assist the school nurse with the screening.  No experience is necessary, brief training is provided, and shifts are flexible.  (Timing:  early fall). Chair:  Shelley Martin smartin@submort.com. Co-chair:  Heather Cook hjcook@cox.net.
